A cell phone signal booster is a system made up of antennas, cable and a signal amplifier that takes an existing cell signal, typically found outside your home, business or vehicle, amplifies the signal and then broadcasts it to an inside area that has a weak or no signal.
In order for the system to work, there must be an existing, stable outside signal for the system to receive and amplify. Signal boosters are unfortunately not able to create signal by themselves, they only amplify and transmit cell phone signal, so if you are not able to place an external antenna in a location that has an existing signal, then a cell phone signal booster will not work for you.
How does a Signal Booster Work?
The general way that a cell phone signal booster for a home or business works is the outside antenna is mounted at or above the roofline of the building, in a location where it can pick up the strongest existing outside cell signal. The cell signal is received by the antenna and is sent over a cable into the building, where it is received by the signal amplifier. The amplifier boosts the cell signal significantly, and then sends it over another cable to one or many inside antennas, which broadcast the improved signal to the area where each antenna is located.
The entire process also works in reverse, so you get a strong and reliable connection back to your carrier.

Steps that describe the work of Repeater.
1) The outside antenna receives the signal from the nearest mobile base station.
2) The outside antenna sends the received signal through the coax cable to the installed Repeater.
3) The repeater accepts the low signal and improves it.
4) The improved signal goes to the inside antenna through the connection coax cable.
5) The inside antenna send the improved good signal to your mobile phone.
Installation tips:
1.Please make sure the outdoor antenna is well isolated with the indoor antenna(s). They should not be on the same horizontal line. The outdoor antenna should be on the housetop, at least 10 meters far away from the indoor antenna(s), better with stairs or wall(s) in between. Put the indoor antenna(s) in the middle of room, far away from the window and door.
2.If still no signal reception after activating repeater, please check if outdoor antenna points to signal tower or elsewhere have strong signal and check if strength achieve -70dBm. Please adjust the direction of the outdoor antenna until it catches good and steady signal. To ensure the result, the outdoor signal should be as strong as possible.
3.More indoor antennas and splitters/couplers are needed for bigger indoor coverage as one indoor antenna can cover around 100-250 square meters Installation Diagram for More Indoor Antennas
Technique Supporting
- If still no signal receipt after activated repeater, please check if outdoor antenna point to signal tower or elsewhere have strong signal and check if strength achieve -70DBM.
- If can not call out, please adjust the direction of outdoor antenna.
- If strength is not steady, please check if outdoor & indoor antennas are too close. Please ensure the outdoor and indoor antenna have distance of 20 meters at least, with a wall between and not at the same horizontal line(outdoor antenna can be one floor higher than the repeater and indoor antenna).
- Indoor antenna and repeater better to be minimum 4 meters far away from nearby windows and doors.
- One indoor antenna can cover only 150-250 square meters. If you want to make all use of 1000 square meters which the host supports, you need to add more indoor antennas (about 3-4) and power divider / splitter. Welcome your inquiry if you need.

Q: Will this signal booster system work in a rural wooded area? I'm not completely in the woods, but I am somewhat surrounded by trees.
A: The signal booster will work if you have a signal outside your house. Put the external antenna in one of the trees to get it higher than your house. Put your phone on field test mode to read signal strength in dBm so you can see the signal faster. Then check around until you find the best signal. Weak but best. Put the outside antenna as high as possible in that location. The signal booster cannot amplify a signal that is completely not available there.
Q: Would the signal amplifier help increase signal at my house with poor call service but has a okay data service?
A: Absolutely your cell signal would increase. It increases both data & voice on 3G & 4G services, so whatever type of signal you can get outside you will get that inside.
Q: Does the signal booster require an Ethernet cable?
A: No, it uses coaxial cable to connect the signal booster with antennas and it's included in the kit provided. Ethernet cable is not required and cannot be used.
